Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic and popular beaches of the capital coast of Puerto del Rosario. Located just two kilometers from the urban center, it has established itself as a real escape route for residents and visitors, thanks to its easy access and the breadth of its natural environment.
Approximately 875 meters long and 40 meters wide, Playa Blanca stands out for its extensive strip of clear sand, ideal for long walks by the sea, sports or simply to enjoy the coastal scenery throughout the year. Its orientation and natural conditions make it a highly valued space for both quiet leisure and more dynamic activities.
The beach offers optimal conditions for water sports such as surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing, especially when the wind is blowing, which has made it a point of reference for lovers of these disciplines. At the same time, its amplitude makes it possible to combine these practices with family recreational use and relaxation.
In terms of services, Playa Blanca has lifeguard and lifeguard during the bathing season, which runs from June 15 to October 15. During this period it also has a beach bar, comfortable access and bathing support services for people with disabilities, reinforcing its inclusive and accessible character. These endowments, together with the proximity to the capital, make Playa Blanca one of the best equipped beaches in the municipality.
One of the aspects that makes Playa Blanca unique is its role as a stage for major events. Every year it hosts the macro show “Sun and Moon”, one of the most emblematic sporting and recreational events of Fuerteventura. It is a free day, more than twelve hours outdoors, designed for the whole family and focused on promoting sport and healthy leisure.
During the event, beach soccer, beach handball and beach volleyball tournaments are held, as well as water activities such as lateen sailing regattas, Optimist sailing, canoeing and the popular swimming crossing between Playa Chica and Playa Blanca, one of the most participatory of the program. In addition, there will be a darts open, sports exhibitions such as karate, exhibitions of vehicles from the local racing team, children’s entertainment and musical entertainment, and the activity will continue until late in the evening.
Playa Blanca also has an important historical value for the island. For decades it was a landmark for hosting the Parador Nacional de Fuerteventura, installed in the late sixties, which contributed decisively to position this area as one of the most recognized tourist areas of the capital environment.
Today, Playa Blanca combines history, sports, leisure and landscape, offering a complete experience by the sea. Its proximity to Puerto del Rosario, the quality of its surroundings and the variety of uses it hosts make it an essential stop for those who want to know and enjoy the coastline of the capital of Majorca.
