Juan Ismael Art Center
The Juan Ismael Art Center is one of the main spaces dedicated to art and contemporary culture in Puerto del Rosario and an indisputable reference in the cultural scene of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands. The center takes its name from Juan Ismael, surrealist painter and avant-garde poet, considered one of the most important artistic figures born on the island and a key creator in the aesthetic renewal of Canarian art of the twentieth century.
Located in the capital of the island, the Juan Ismael Art Center is conceived as a living place, open to creation, reflection and cultural dissemination. Its programming is oriented to contemporary art, with special attention to current trends, new artistic languages and dialogue between local, national and international creators.
The building houses two exhibition halls, where temporary exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video art and other disciplines related to contemporary creation are held. These exhibitions are periodically renewed, offering the visitor the possibility of discovering diverse and constantly evolving artistic proposals.
In addition to the exhibition spaces, the center has a conference room where presentations, cultural meetings, lectures, round tables and cycles of reflection related to art, literature and contemporary thought are held. It also has a documentation center, aimed at supporting research and knowledge of modern and contemporary art, as well as a pedagogical department, which promotes educational activities, workshops and training programs aimed at different audiences.
The Juan Ismael Art Center plays a fundamental role as a cultural engine of Puerto del Rosario, encouraging citizen participation and bringing contemporary art to both residents and visitors. Its activity contributes to consolidate the capital as a space sensitive to artistic creation and cultural innovation.
A visit to this center allows travelers to discover a different side of Fuerteventura, beyond the landscape and nature, delving into its creative and contemporary identity. Given its dynamic nature, it is recommended to consult its current schedule to know the exhibitions and activities taking place at the time of the visit.
